The Riau Islands provincial government notes that expanding the FTZ across the whole territory is still a long process at the central level.
The proposal to expand the Free Trade Zone and Free Port across the entire Riau Islands Province has resurfaced. The expansion is seen as capable of strengthening the zone's competitiveness and attracting more investment.
Even so, the process still requires lengthy stages at the central government level, including studies, cross-ministry coordination, and regulatory adjustments. The Council Secretariat continues to accompany this process.
